11 things about myself

1. I was born in Brigham City and moved to Hurricane when I was 6.
2. I played basketball from age 8 to 16, volleyball my Freshman and Sophomore years, and then dropped both sports and made the cheerleading squad.  I had great experiences with all three sports and love the memories made.
3. My mom is 5’4” and my dad is 6’4”.  I stopped right in the middle at 5’10”.  There were times in school when I was self-conscious about my height and wished I were one of the tiny, petite girls, but it has never been an issue since high school.  I fit perfectly into the crook of Jack’s arm and am perfect distance for him to bend and kiss.
4. My parents got divorced when I was 18.  It destroyed our family and I have horrible feelings and very strong opinions about divorce.
5. The first time I saw the ocean I was 21 years old.  The first time I was ever on an airplane was on my honeymoon at 23 years old.  I have been on somewhere around a dozen flights since then.
6. I like to look up old actors or singers on Wikipedia and learn about their life.
7. I love to read.  When I was younger I’d carry a book everywhere I went and would sometimes turn down plans so I could stay home and read.
8. I’m a total homebody. I would rather be at home than anywhere else and Jack and I rarely go out for dates.  We love to order take-out and watch a movie or show.
9. My favorite hobby (besides reading) is cooking.  Especially desserts.
10. My mom and grandma were both blessed with a green thumb and a passion for gardening that was not passed onto me.  I hate doing yard work and have inadvertently killed every houseplant I have owned.  I’m trying to do better this year though with a garden my mom planted for me because I really want to have fresh fruits and veggies out of my own garden.
11. I am surprisingly good at Who Wants to be a Millionaire.  I toast Jack every time we watch it on TV and compete.

1. What is the strangest thing you ever did?
Meet a guy on Myspace and then drive down to Vegas from St George and go on a date with him.  Luckily, instead of killing me in a dark alley, he turned out to be the love of my life.

2. What is your most embarrassing moment?
I peed my pants in class once.  In high school.

3. What is your favorite thing about yourself?
I don’t judge, to each his own.  I also feel like I can connect better with people who have been through hard things or maybe those who consider themselves damaged.

4. What three items would you take with you if you knew you were going to be stranded on an island for a year?
Wellll…. Jack and Olivia aren’t items so I can add them to the mix with no penalty.  Also a tarp, unlimited matches, and mosquito netting.

5. What dessert do you order the most often?
I don’t usually order desserts at restaurants because I like to make them myself :) I’m a sucker for cookies and chocolate cake.  However, I feel like I am putting the owner of Station 13 Doughnuts’ kids through college with the amount of frosted chocolate cake doughnuts I buy.

6. If you could have any superhero power, what would it be?
To freeze time. Hands down.

7. What is the best gift anyone has ever given you?
Jack compiled letters from my friends and family with memories and sentiments towards me and he had them all bound into a book.  It’s priceless.

8. Where is your ideal vacation spot?
It depends on the conditions and changes every few months.  We love to travel so we usually plan for our dream vacation for a while and then go!  We’ve been to most of the places we wanted to see in Europe, Hawaii, and on the West coast of the US.  Next I would love to go to DC (I will have to ask you for at itinerary Brooke!), or take our girls to the beach.  It would be so fun to watch Olivia play in the sand and water.  For a big vacation, I’d love to travel to the Holy Land with Jack or see the pyramids in Egypt.

9. What makes you feel most alive?
Traveling.  I love to travel with my husband and see places that are so new to me, but have been there all along and then going home and thinking of them still there.  Also, I love learning new things as a mom and wife and growing in my roles as both.

10. What has been the best decision you've ever made?
To marry my husband.  We had dated for 3 years and I had made the decision to go on a mission.  One day we went to a sno-cone shack and I looked at him and knew I should spend forever with him.  I have only felt more convicted and validated in my decision the longer I am with him.  He is the most incredible man I have ever met and I love his desire to be a good husband, dad, and friend.

11. What is your greatest accomplishment?
Getting through {almost} two pregnancies.  Being pregnant is extremely hard for me and I feel like a rockstar for surviving it.  You might think that is dramatic, but whatever. You probably had a different experience being pregnant than I did.
