I'm such a sucker for a small-town gathering and have major small town pride. When we were dating Jack lived in Pleasant Grove, and when we got married I moved into his condo with him. We started the tradition of going to the town's Strawberry Days each year and still do, even now that we've moved (as well as our town's own celebration). This year we did the carnival and then went to the rodeo as well and I absolutely loved it. Most of Jack's family went as well and Liv sat up with Grandpa and Paula while we had Berlin and Asher a few rows back from them. When Berlin saw the cowboys wrestling the calves to the ground she said "Dad, why don't you go out there and jump on those baby cows?" Maybe next year Bay.

I had the best Mother's Day yet this year, it was so nice to have a relaxing day and let Jack take care of everything and me :) I mean, he normally does so much but today he wouldn't let me do ANYTHING that resembled work. He woke up with the kids and got them dressed for 9am church, brought me breakfast in bed, and surprised me with a bouquet of bright, gorgeous flowers and two new books. One is a parenting book I've been wanting and the other is a first edition hardbound of my favorite childhood book (my paperback is the same one I've had since I was a kid and is pretty tattered). The girls had picked out a card all by themselves at the store and had drawn in it for me. Jack and I laughed over the caption on the card that says "To the best Godmother" haha. We had a nice morning in church with talks about mothers and Utah truffle bars handed out to all of the mothers, a nice lunch together, and had our traditional Sunday movie day, eating popcorn and watching a movie. I made fresh chocolate chip cookies (Jack tried to prevent me, but knows I love to bake) then I relaxed on the lovesac in the basement and watched Jane Eyre and ate warm cookies while he put Legos together with the kids. We ended the night with a Friends marathon and Jack set up our massage table and gave me an hour-long full-body massage. I feel asleep one happy Mama. I'm so grateful for my family and this job that requires so much but also gives so much. I'm also so thankful for the family and friends I have that are amazing examples of what I want to be as a Mom.

Berlin turned three years old on the 4th! That same weekend it was our town's carnivals "days" so the night before we went to our the carnival (and told her it was all for her of course) and rode some fun rides and ate carnival food and then on the morning of her birthday we went to the parade and got bagfuls of candy thrown our way. Berlin also opened her gifts (lots of Lego Duplos, an Ariel nightgown, a tutu, play dough, and some painting books). My sister, Amy, got married on Bay's birthday so we all got dressed up and drove to Brigham City to party with family. Amy has a friend that used to work as a Disney princess and she had her dress up in her Cinderella costume and visit the birthday girl. It was so sweet for Amy to arrange this at her own wedding and Berlin felt so special getting a crown from Cinderella. Also we got some great pics of me with all of my sisters! That night we had dinner and birthday cake (Berlin requested a chocolate cake with stars on). We love our Berlin so much and loved celebrating her. She is so sweet, so intuitive to others' feelings, such a great help to me, so obedient and thoughtful, and seriously the funniest little kid with a great sense of humor. She is just losing her baby fat and getting leaner and taller and has the most beautiful bluish-grey eyes and long lashes and curly brown hair. Happy birthday to our sweet girl!

Jack surprised us with an impromptu overnight in Park City last week that was such a fun getaway for our little family! His sister Jenny was already staying up there so we were able to see them a bit too. We started with dinner at Pizza Noodle then checked into our room, which was a 1-bedroom suite so the girls could sleep out in the living area, Asher in the bathroom in her pack n play, and Jack and I in the bedroom. We went swimming and saw a magic show that the hotel put on; Olivia was a volunteer and got a balloon puppy. We then ate at Baja Cantina right outside our hotel and took turns taking the two older girls on the Alpine slide. We finished the night with Jenny's family, roasting s'mores in the fire pits by the pool and then put the girls to bed. The next morning we checked out, ate breakfast at Squatter's, and then Jack gave me an allotment of cash that had to all be spent at the outlets in Park City. It was such a nice little getaway!
